Sponsors for the 2007 event are said to have included
Delta Electricity; Halekulani Sporting Club; Janeille Gates Real Estate; Stockade Meats; Budgewoi Inn; Tynan Family Trust; Higgins and Dawson Solicitors and many more.
First Prize was won by the "Skulls" (above forground) Scott Hamilton, Marcus MacAlister, Mark Spillane and Wade Schirmer
Second Prize was won by the "Sea Dragons" (above) Greg Bell, Peter Dhy, Nicholas Godson and "The Coach" (the latter arriving after I took the names...apologies!)
The Lions Festival is held in the serene lakeside McKenzie Park at Budgewoi on the northern Central Coast of NSW. It is administered by the Lion's Club of Doyalson, Wyee and Budgewoi Inc.
This year included an amazing range of stalls selling everything from pirate flags to hand made art and crafts.
There was a raffle of sports memorabilia such as a St George Rugby League Jersey and football.
Excellent and informative displays from Police, Ambulance, Orcca and Animal Rescue and Care groups (Wildlife ARC) were held throughout the day.
Entertainment was provided by a great vocalist (Tanni) and band with a wide range of music that made visiting the festival a worthwhile trip even if there had been nothing else.
This is the second year I have been able to attend this event and the members of the Lion's Club responsible for it should be proud of themselves. It is an excellent and peaceful way to spend a few hours with family, friends or on your own.
If you are in the in the area for next year keep your eye out for it.
